Progress on a few things

Here is my progress on the Serenity Harbor Sampler.
Waiting patiently for the next part now

I had this plant given to me awhile ago and did not know what it was. I have since found out from my facebook friends that this is a peace lily plant. Loved it when it started blooming - nice surprise for me.

Here is another item that I am working on. This one is an antique counter pane pattern and the block as you can see is made in 4 parts. This is the first of the 4. Pattern is here

And here is my progress on the Lancaster county block of the month. The 2nd block is already out but I have not managed to get it done as of yet. This one here still needs a bit of sewing done on it.

Information is here

Have a great rest of your day. I am off to work now

Old crochet block pattern

Beautiful old doily pattern

The pattern is in the link above. I really like this pattern and although it is a bit complicated to figure out the way the old patterns are written, this one is not as bad as some. If you go to the link, check out the other patterns in that book as there are some very beautiful ones to try.

This is my version that I have started and you can see that the pattern really pops.

A World of Gidget's

About 2 days ago, I had a lady send a friend request on facebook. I was suprised to see it was another person named Gidget (which of course is my name) so I assumed it was because we had the same name and I accepted the request.
And then..... they kept coming. So far there are 138 Gidget's on facebook in the Gidget's Unite facebook page. I really am stunned and they are from all over the world. What a blast to see that many people named Gidget.
Wish I had known them all when I was growing up but ofcourse that would not have happened unless for facebook. I am really enjoying seeing their profiles and comments. What a crazy little surprise to lighten my days.

On another note, I am almost finished my part 1 of the Serenity Harbour Sampler.

Will post a picture of it within the next day or so - just a few more stitches....
Have a great rest of your day!!

Sampler started

Today I printed my start to the Serenity Harbour Sampler from By The Bay Needleart. All her stuff is soooooo beautiful and is instilled with seaside - you can believe, if you don't live by the water, that you are there, by looking at her works

I purchased these over dyed threads on ebay. They are absolutely beautiful and very reasonable from the lady who sells them. She also has a website which is Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe
All the threads are hand dyed and really nice to work with. I plan on ordering a lot more from her.
Also you can check out her products on her Ebay Store

I really love the turquoise ones shown on this picture here and was very excited to start the Serenity Harbour Sampler. Now that is just a gorgeous sampler. I only hope that I can keep up with it.
I had considered getting aida cloth that has been hand dyed in a very pale color- maybe yellows, or blue (super light) but after looking at how lovely the sampler itself is, I did not think I should take away from that. So.... I decided to go with a beige aida in 18 count ( partly because my eyes would never see anything smaller). So my start was made today and I really love the colors already.

As it progresses I will post more. Working as much as I do, my time for stitching is limited but I do love the time I have to stitch.

I hope everyone had a very good Holiday Season with family and friends. I went missing from blogging for awhile, but I am trying to put more time into it again.

The weather has been very nice here with not many cold days as of yet. I still open up the windows during the day to let the air in and enjoy the sounds of the ocean side creatures. There were several bald headed eagles in the trees today and they were chatting up a storm. Their call is very strange to hear but very distinct.  There are also some blue herons that fish at the ocean side and of course the seagulls.

I have added some pics I took over the holidays. The little girl is my granddaughter Aurora at Christmas time. We ended up having Christmas early as I had to work all day on Christmas so it was very good to get everyone together and we had a great meal.
